DHS establishes the nation’s first Cyber Safety Review Board

The public-private initiative unites federal government and industry leaders to boost cyber security in the US

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has announced the establishment of the country’s first Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB).

This initiative comes in response to President Biden’s Executive Order 14028, which seeks to strengthen the nation’s cybersecurity posture. The CSRB, composed of 15 distinguished cybersecurity experts from both the federal government and the private sector, will assess significant cybersecurity incidents to aid the government, industry, and broader security communities in safeguarding the nation’s networks and critical infrastructure.

The board’s first task will be to investigate the vulnerabilities identified in the widely-used Log4j software library in late 2021. The review is expected to provide valuable cybersecurity insights and lessons, according to statements from the White House and DHS.
