Digital Marketing: Benefits in 2021

Digital Marketing: Benefits in 2021

What is digital marketing?

Digital marketing, also known as online marketing, is the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers through the internet and other forms of digital communication. This includes not only email, social media, and web advertising, but also text and multimedia messaging as a marketing channel.

Basically, if a marketing campaign involves digital communication, it is digital marketing.

Inbound marketing and digital marketing

Digital marketing and inbound marketing are easily confused and for good reason. Digital marketing uses many of the same tools as inbound marketing: email and online content, just to name a few. Both are designed to grab the attention of potential customers on the buyer’s journey and to become a customer. But the two approaches have different views on the relationship between the instrument and the target.

Digital marketing explores how any tool can convert potential customers. A brand’s digital marketing strategy can use multiple platforms or focus all its efforts on one platform.

Inbound marketing is a holistic concept. Consider the goal first, then look at the tools available to determine who will reach your target customers and at what stage of the sales funnel this should be done.

The most important thing to remember about digital marketing and inbound marketing is that as a marketer you don’t have to choose between 2. They work even better together. Inbound marketing provides the structure and purpose of effective digital marketing for digital marketing efforts and ensures that every digital marketing channel is pursuing a goal.

B2B digital marketing versus B2C

Digital marketing works for B2B and B2C companies, but the best practices differ between the two.

• B2B customers generally have longer decision-making processes and therefore longer sales phases. Relationship-building strategies work best for these customers, while B2C customers are generally more responsive to short-term offers and messages.

• B2B transactions are usually based on the logic and evidence provided by B2B digital marketers. B2C content is likely to be more emotion-based, with an emphasis on the feeling that the customer is comfortable with the purchase.

• B2B decisions usually require information from more than one person. The marketing materials that best fit these decisions can be shared and downloaded regularly. On the other hand, B2C customers prefer direct links to a brand.

There are, of course, exceptions to all rules. A B2C company with a leading product, such as a car or computer, can deliver more informative and serious content. Your strategy should always focus on your customer base, whether you are B2B or B2C.

Types of digital marketing

There are as many specializations in digital marketing as there are forms of communication via digital media. Here are some important examples.

Searchmachine optimalisation

Search engine optimization, or SEO, is technically a marketing tool, not necessarily a form of marketing. The Balance defines it as ‘the art and science of making web pages attractive to search engines.

The most important is the EEA Department of Arts and Science. SEO is a science because it requires you to research and evaluate various factors that contribute to the highest ranking possible. Today, the most important elements to consider when optimizing a web page are:

• Content quality

• Level of user engagement

• Compatible with mobile devices

• Number and quality of inbound links

Using these factors strategically makes SEO a science, but unpredictability makes it an art.

With SEO, there are no consistent and measurable titles or high rankings. Google changes its algorithm almost constantly, so it is impossible to make accurate predictions. What you can do is monitor your page performance closely and make the necessary changes.
